New School: State Issues temporary Certificate of Occupancy!

Teachers will be able to access their classrooms at the new Adair County Primary Center, 158 Col. Casey Drive, Columbia, KY, starting at 6amCT, Saturday, August 10, 2013

By Alan W. Reed, Superintendent
Adair County, KY, School District

Please be advised that at 11amCT this morning, Friday, August 9, 2013, the new Adair County Primary Center received a temporary certificate of occupancy following state inspection. The school will be open for teachers to begin setting up their classrooms beginning at 6amCT, Saturday morning, August 10, 2013. Closing times on Saturday, Sunday and Monday for teachers and staff will be determined by the principal.

A team comprised of the Adair County Schools maintenance departments and custodial staff will be on hand all weekend long to assist.

The certificate restricts the occupants to employees only and absolutely no children will be allowed to enter the facility until next Wednesday morning, the first day of school for students.

I wish to thank all parents, faculty, staff and community for the cooperation and patience you have shown during this strenuous process. A very special thanks is also extended to the maintenance and custodial team who went the extra mile and put in long, very hard hours during the process of closing two schools, opening this new facility, moving whole classrooms in or out of Adair County Middle School and Adair County Elementary School.

Sincerely, Alan W. Reed, Superintendent, Adair County Schools. 1204 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY 42728 Phone: 270-384-2476

Areas at Adair County Primary Center still under construction when classes start on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 are locked off. Children won't be able to get in the construction area and construction workers won't be able to enter the classroom area, Superintendent Alan W. Reed says. On the other side of this locked door is the cafeteria/auditorium, which is connected by an already finished double stage connecting to a similar room, the gymnasium/auditorium. It too will be secure. Superintendent Reed says that for approximately the first 10 days of school, lunches will be prepared in other campus cafeterias and transported to ACPC.
