The following information will be sent home with students in letter form during the first few days of school:

The Adair County School System has always been committed to the safety of all children. As we begin a new year, we continue to look for more ways to ensure safety for every student. Throughout the summer many of our school staff members have participated in various trainings and meetings concerning school safety. Throughout these meetings a couple of common themes arose. As a result of the valuable information learned from these trainings we are going to implement a few changes that will continue our efforts in placing student safety as a main focus and priority.

Here are a few ways that we need your help in keeping students safe:
  • Any person signing a student out of school should be prepared to show a photo ID.
  • All visitors must sign in when entering the school and have a visitor tag visible at all times while the building. Visitor tags will be generated electronically though the Ident-A-Kid visitor management system.
  • We will begin the use of the Ident-A-Kid visitor management system this school year. This system will print a personalized name tag for each visitor that enters the district's schools or buildings.
  • All visitors should expect to be granted access only through one designated visitor entrance. This is the front office entrance in all our schools and district buildings.
  • Encourage your child to let school staff know if there is an incident of bullying, harassment or threat of any kind.
  • Be in contact with your child's school if there are threats that you feel need to be brought to the school's attention.
Please take a few minutes discuss these changes with your children and anyone that may pick up children from school. Keeping all students in Adair County safe is a community effort. This is an on-going process and we always value your opinions, thoughts and assistance. We are looking forward to another wonderful school year! - Robbie Harmon
