Growing up Knifleyan, where time is learned at early age A Primer: Understanding what time you're on is really simple if one learns the translations Comments re article 61122 She endures injustice of fast time wishes Taylor Co would change By Debbie Gabehart Cowan I sympathize with those who are confused by the time zone issues of south central Kentucky. However, having grown up in Knifley, KY. I have lived with this state of affairs for many years. Although Knifley is located in the Central Time Zone, many folks there "go" on Eastern Time. It is really quite simple and this probably won't help you if you didn't grow up in Knifley, but I couldn't resist. This is how you translate the time zones: Central Time is also known as Slow Time, Columbia Time and School Time (as the Knifley School operated on Central Time). All of these times are one hour "behind" Fast Time, Campbellsville Time or Eastern Time. Or, as my family that lives in Knifley and I say when we plan Sunday dinner, "Is that My time or Your time?" I often joke that I would love to have a job that allows me to clock in on "slow time" and clock out on "fast time". Nevertheless, no matter what time it is, Adair County is still the best place in the world to live and work. - Debbie Cowan Thanks, Debbie Cowan: That should help Martha Berry, but can you or any reader give advice on how to live in a "nest of Baptists." - EW This story was posted on 2013-08-07 09:59:40
