Dog owners reminded to take special care in the heat wave Fresh water is needed several times a day; if dogs are tied outside, they should be in shady area Sandy Pyles Pet owners who have a dog in a pen or tied need to remember to take the time to move them to a shaded area. A dog house sitting out in direct sunlight is like a oven, so try to find a shady area for them; and most importantly, keep lots of fresh water available for them!!!! Water gets hot after a few hours in the sunlight, so they need fresh water several times a day. They are helpless when tied or kept in a pen so please take the time or ask a friend or neighbor if you are unable to see to them. The Kentucky Humane Society considers it abuse if a caged or tied animal does not have a fresh supply of water but most importantly - they are helpless. Thanks, Sandy --Sandy Pyles This story was posted on 2013-07-19 18:55:14
