Country Store History: L.R. Chelf Account Book, 1925-1928-- Click on headline for complete story, list of account names By Mike Watson Adair County Historian The subject of the country store can and will elicit many responses and additional ideas! Thanks to the several people who emailed or called about the list. There will be an update in the near future; more data is coming in daily. Thus far, I am not able to give the lineages of many stores, but I am working on two or three that need additional effort. However, the submission below is from some research dating back some dozen or more years. Inspired by editor Ed, the following is a list of some of the customers on the account book of L.R. Chelf, at his Knifley store, circa 1925-1928. Often more than one person would charge to the family account, so the names of others follow the account holder in the list. Berkley L.
