She was a a native of Adair County, a member of a large, respected Northeast Adair County family, and the daughter of the late William Robert & Cecil Burton Cowan. She was a member of Bearwallow United Methodist and had worked at the Fruit of Loom factory in Campbellsville and Jamestown, KY

Maxine Cowan age 74 years of Liberty Road, Columbia, KY, passed away Wednesday July 10, 2013 at 7:51pmCT, at Westlake Regional Hospital Emergency Room, Columbia.

Funeral services will be Sunday, July 14, 2013 at 2pmCT/3pmET, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Glenn LaFond, the officiating clergy. Interment will be in the Bearwallow Cemetery, 6090 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY. Visitation will be after 4pmCT/5pmET, Saturday, July 13, 2013, at the funeral home.

Pallbearers Carson Hadley, Dwayne Hadley, Adam Montgomery, Mike Jones, Roger Cowan and Joe Watson.

Maxine Cowan, Adair Co., KY (1938-2013)

She was born on Tuesday, July 25, 1938 in Adair County, KY. She was the daughter of the late William Robert & Cecil Burton Cowan. She died Wednesday, July 10, 2013, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 74 years, 11 months, and 15 days.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Shirley Cowan.

She is survived by the following:
  • Two sisters: Joyce Cowan and Doris Hadley, both of Columbia, KY

  • Two nieces and one nephew: Kathy Jones, Phyllis Montgomery and Carson Hadley

  • Great nephews and niece: Adam Montgomery, Stephanie Watson and Dwayne Hadley.

  • Great great niece: Callie Grace Montgomery

  • Several other relatives and friends
