Eugene Darnell, 76, Adair County, KY (1936-2013)

He was a native of Adair County, KY, and a resident of Dyersburg, TN at the time of his death. He was the son of the late Munford & Helen Christine Mitchum Darnell. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Margaret Wallen Darnell. He leaves 13 direct and 1 step living descendants. He was retired from the maintenance department at Lyons Township High School. He attended Holy Hills Baptist Church. He was a woodworker and served his country U. S. Army

Eugene Darnell age 76 years of Dyersburg, TN formerly of Adair County passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at his residence.

Funeral services will be Monday, July 8, 2013, at 1pmCT/2pmET, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Troy Long the officiating clergy. Interment in the McClister Cemetery, 4138 Fairplay Road, Fairplay, KY, with full military honors by local VFW Post 6097. Visitation will be 5pm-8pmCT/6pm-9pmET, Sunday, July 7, 2013, and anytime Monday before funeral service.



Eugene Darnell, 76, Adair County, KY (1936-2013)


He was born August 31, 1936 in Adair County, KY. He was the son of late Munford & Helen Christine Mitchum Darnell. He died Wednesday, July 13, 2013, in Dyersburg, Dyer County, TN, at the age of 76 years, 10 months, and 13 days.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Margaret Wallen Darnell, also a brother Calvin "Buddy" Louis Darnell.

He is survived by the following:
  • One son: Richard (Sylvia) Darnell of Dyersburg, TN

  • One daughter: Patty Zleutara of Orland Park, IL

  • One step-daughter: Sherri Ballinger of Dyersburg, TN

  • Six grandchildren

  • Five great grandchildren

  • and a host of other relatives and friends
He was retired from the maintenance department at Lyons Township High School. He attended Holy Hills Baptist Church. He was a woodworker and served his country U. S. Army.
