By MTPR Norman Chaffins, Public Affairs Officer
Kentucky State Police Post 4, Elizabethtown, KY

ELIZABETHTOWN, KY - On Monday, June 17, 2013 at approximately 9:26amET, Post 4 received a call of a multi-vehicle collision near the 96.5 mile marker on Interstate 65.

The initial investigation revealed that a 2012 Dodge Ram pickup driven by 38-year-old Charles S. Miller of Paducah, KY had lost control due to weather, slammed into the cable barrier and came to final rest partially in the fast lane of I-65.

A 2013 Hyundai Sante Fe operated by 62-year-old Shirley Boisvert of Portland, TN stopped in the center lane and was able to avoid striking the pickup. However, a 1978 Kenworth C-500 semi tractor operated by Karl Brown, 58, of Conneautville, PA struck the Hyundai in the rear causing it to strike the passenger side of the Dodge Ram pickup.

Another vehicle, a 2004 Chevrolet 2500 pickup, driven by 55-year-old Michael Eastman of Cambridge Springs, PA, struck the rear end of the Kenworth.

Boisvert was airlifted from the scene to the University of Louisville Hospital with neck and back injuries. No other injuries were reported. Two lanes of the interstate was shut down for approximately 2 hours. Tpr. Pete Binkley is investigating. He was assisted at the scene by the Hardin County EMS and the Central Hardin Fire Department. - MTPR Norman Chaffins
