Searching for relatives from Adair who established Burton, GA Carol Sue Burton Beaton writes: Found this obituary on the internet while searching for my Burton relatives, who came out of Adair Co., Ky. and migrated to Georgia. My grandfather was also Andrew Jackson Burton, died 1934 at 48 yrs. His father was Samuel Burton, whose father was Jeremiah J Burton. Does your family know anything at all about Jeremiah, born about 1815, died 1902? They were all farmers/blacksmiths, established a town in N.E. corner of Georgia named Burton. The town and all buildings were buried in what is now Lake Burton when the Tallulah River was dammed and the Burton Dam officially opened Dec 19, 1919. --Carol Sue Burton BeatonComments re article 60007 Andrew J Burton Adair Co KY19472013 This story was posted on 2013-06-18 03:58:25
