Illegally placed signs will be removed They pose hazard to maintenance workers; are distractions to drivers By Chris Jessie, Public Information Offficer Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, Elizabethtown, KY ELIZABETHTOWN, KY (May 28, 2013) - Kentucky Transportation Cabinet mowing and spraying crews continue working on state maintained right-of-way areas. Motorists should be alert to moving equipment and use additional caution upon approaching mowing and spraying zones. Businesses, residents and property owners along US and KY routes are reminded that these crews have the authority and will remove any non-permitted signs placed on right-of-way areas. No yard sale, auction, election, business or any other sign is allowed on state maintained right-of-way. Such signs must be placed beyond right-of-way limits. It is also illegal to attach items such as posters, balloons or streamers to stop signs, highway markers or any other road sign along routes or at intersections. These could block sight distance or distract drivers, particularly at intersections, creating a safety issue. This story was posted on 2013-05-29 03:02:06
