Lloyd Akers passed away Sunday May 19, 2013 at his home in Casey County, KY. He was 73.

Memorial service will be held at 2pmCT/3pmET Saturday June 1, 2013 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness, 119 KY 49, in Liberty, KY. Cremation rites were honored by McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.

Born September 13, 1939 in Amba, Floyd County, KY. He was the son of the late Andy and Octavia White Akers. He died Sunday, May 19, 2013, at his home in Casey County, KY, at the age of 73 years, 8 months, and 6 days.

He worked as a pipe insulator in Detroit, Michigan was a member of the Kindom Hall of Jehovah's Witness. Survivors include his wife, Carol Gaskin Akers of Liberty, KY, and the following:
  • Two sons: Keith Akers of Huston, Texas, and Eric Akers of Dearborn, MI

  • A daughter: Rebecca Gartin of Dearborn Heights, MI

  • Three grandchildren

  • Four brothers: Denver Akers of Michigan, Andy Akers of South Carolina, Paul Akers of Michigan and Fred Akers of Ohio

  • And sisters, Gail Hotham of Ohio.
