Jewell Cox, Taylor Co., KY (1933-2013)

She professed faith in Christ and was of the Methodist faith. She was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville, KY. She was the widow of James D. (Jay) Cox. Their marriage endured a remarkable 64 years. She leaves 13 direct living descendants.

Jewell Cox, 80, of Campbellsville, KY, died at 5:32pmET, Wednesday, May 15, 2013 in Louisville. Age: 80

Funeral services are at 10amCT/11amET, Monday, May 20, 2013 at the Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home, 418 Lebanon Avenue, Campbellsville, KY by Rev. Don Gowin. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery, W Main Street, Campbellsville, KY. Visitation will be 4pm-7pmCT/5pm-8pmET, Sunday, May 19, 2013, at the Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home.


Pallbearers: Chasity Johnson, Brandon Cox, Clint Cox, Brooke Humphress, D. J. Cox, Samantha Cox, Shania Cox, Mariah Cox, and Dirt Cox

Jewell Cox was the daughter of the late William Arthur Sallee and Mary Anna Murrell Sallee. She was born in Taylor County, KY, Tuesday, February 28, 1933. She died Wednesday, May 15, 2013 in Louisville, Jefferson County, KY, at the age of 80 years, 2 months, and 15 days.. Age: 80

She professed faith in Christ and was of the Methodist faith. She was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville.

She united in marriage to James D. (Jay) Cox on March 24, 1949.

Besides her husband, James D. (Jay) Cox, she is survived by the following:
  • Two sons and daughters inlaw: Doug and Ann Cox and Jason and Tammy Cox of Campbellsville, KY

  • Five granddaughters and four grandsons: Chasity Johnson, Brooke Humphress, Samantha Cox, Shania Cox, Mariah Cox, Brandon Cox, Clint Cox, D. J. Cox, and Dirt Cox

  • Six great grandchildren

  • One brother and three sisters: Daymon Sallee and Lora Mae Dudgeon of Campbellsville, KY; Athol Milby of Summersville, KY; and Mary Elizabeth Vance of Greensburg, KY

  • Several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers: Delois Bell Sallee, William E. "Bill" Sallee, Logan Ray Sallee, and Maurice Gene Sallee. Send a condolence to the family of Jewell Cox
