Mrs. Myers was a member of the Columbia Christian Church and a retired social worker for the Kentucky Department of Social Services and a former teacher and homemaker. Loeta Myers age 88 years of Columbia, KY passed away Friday, May 10, 2013 at 12:43 PM at the Westlake Regional Hospital in Columbia after several weeks illness.

Funeral services will be Monday, May 13, 2013 at 1pmCT, at the Columbia Christian Church 206 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with the clergy officiating Bro. Terry White & Bro. Raymond Martin. Interment will be in the Columbia Cemetery, 315 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY. The family requests visiting from 4pm-8:30pmCT/5pm-9:30pmET, on Sunday, May 12, 2013, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY and 6am-11:45amCT/7am-12:45pmET, Monday at the funeral home and after 12pm noon CT/1pmET, until service time on Monday at the Columbia Christian Church.

She was born in Sparksville, Adair County, KY on Saturday, May 24, 1924. She was the daughter of the late Taus and Allie Murphy McGinnis. She died Friday, May 10, 2013, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 88 years, 11 months, and 17 days.

She was preceded in death by her husband Earl Myers on June 28, 1981; and two sisters, Sylvia Baker and Alta Coomer; and one brother, G.B. McGinnis.

She is survived by the following:
  • One daughter: Mary Ellen Smith and husband Jeffrey of Russell Springs, KY

  • One son: Joe Myers and wife, Brenda of Suwanee, GA

  • Two grandchildren: Patrick Smith and Melinda Wright

  • Three great grandchildren: Madalyn Wright, Catherine and Lucian Wright
  • Two step grandchildren: Tyler & Katherine Long

  • Three step great grandchildren: Nancy George, Kaitlyn George, and Greg George.
Mrs. Myers was a member of the Columbia Christian Church and a retired social worker for the Kentucky Department of Social Services and a former teacher and homemaker. She was a devoted University of Kentucky basketball fan. Church Expressions of sympathy may take the form of a donation to the Columbia Christian Church Memorial Fund.
