By Randal Murrell, Postmaster, Columbia, KY 42728

Today, Saturday, May 11, 2013, is the Big Day in Columbia Post Office's Stamp out Hunger Effort. Last year, Adair County postal patrons' generosity resulted in the donation of over 4,000 pounds of food, which the USPS unit delivered to the Adair Food Pantry, 203 S Monroe Street, Columbia, KY.

To help Stamp Out Hunger! in Adair County this year, postal patrons simply leave a sturdy bag containing nonperishable foods, like canned soup, canned vegetables, pasta, rice or cereal, next to your mailbox prior to the time of regular mail delivery today. Food items should be in non-breakable containers such as boxes and cans. Mail carriers will pick up the donations and deliver them to the local food pantry.

Contributors may also drop off food items at the Columbia Post Office located at 800 Burkesville Street, Columbia, KY, any time this week.
