LWC captures program's first MSC baseball tournament title Lindsey Wilson Blue Raider Baseball, 10. Campbellsville University Tigers, 7, in Championship game played last night at Egnew Park in Columbia By Dan White, Assistant Sports Information Director COLUMBIA, Ky. - It took a day longer than it wanted, but third-seeded Lindsey Wilson College is the 2013 Mid-South Conference Baseball Tournament Champions after beating No. 4-seed Campbellsville University, Campbellsville, KY 10-7 on Thursday night, May 2, 2013, at Egnew Park. The Blue Raiders could have ended the tournament with a win on Wednesday, but the Tigers made them wait another day to put up 10 runs on 13 hits and capture the program's first MSC Tournament Championship. There were big performances all night, but none could have been bigger than Blue Raider catcher Trey Davis who was thrust into the spotlight after a big play and injury to starter Russ Morse. With Lindsey Wilson up 4-3 in the bottom of the fourth inning, Morse took a throw to the plate from left fielder Jeandro Andino to end the inning in style, but took a blow from Campbellsville's Ryan Squires to force his exit from the game. Davis didn't shy away from the opportunity, going 3-for-3 at the plate with three RBIs and a run scores, all while catching the final five innings from pitchers Daniel Pulliam, who earned the win to improve to 6-3, and Chris Erker. - Dan White This story was posted on 2013-05-03 13:15:57
