June Dairy Day returns to Columbia Saturday, June 15, 2013 will coincide with Farmers Market on the Square By Sharon Burton, editor Farmer's Pride and Community Voice June Dairy Day activities are returning to Adair County. A group of local citizens are meeting and planning a number of activities to recognize local dairy producers and celebrate June Dairy Day on Saturday, June 15, 2013. The day will include live entertainment and old-fashioned contests such as a husband calling contest and a milk-drinking contest. June Dairy Day will be held on the public square and will coincide with the weekly farmers' market located at the courthouse annex, 424 Public Square, Columbia, KY. The Adair County Community Voice and its sister publication The Farmer's Pride will bring back the popular Sundae Slam, a competition to design two ice cream sundaes that ends with free ice cream for everyone. Arts and craft vendors and concessions will be available throughout the event. Anyone wishing to set up an arts and crafts booth or offer concessions should contact Charles Grimsley at 270-384-5658. Any organization or business that would like to organize or sponsor an event as part of June Dairy Day can contact Billy Rowe at 270-634-0334. More details will be available in the near future, but mark your calendars now for the return of June Dairy Day on Saturday, June 15, 2013. - Sharon Burton This story was posted on 2013-05-01 02:27:50
