She was the widow of Wendell Lloyd Oaks. She leaves 16 direct living descendants.

, Mrs. Frances Allene Parnell Oaks, 79, of Ekron, KY, and departed this life on Monday, April 29, 2013 at the Golden Living Center-Green Hill, Greensburg, KY.

The funeral services for Mrs. Frances Allene Parnell Oaks will be conducted at 2pmCT/3pmET, Thursday, May 2, 2013 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S Main Street, Greensburg, KY, with burial to follow in the Greasy Creek Cemetery. Bro. Nathan Oaks will be officiating. Visitation is requested from 4pm-8pmCT/5pm-9pmET, Wednesday at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7amCT/8amET, Thursday until time of the funeral service.


Pallbearers: Jimmy Dell Parnell, Toby Oaks, Jody Oaks, Robbie Oaks, Jason Oaks, and Mike Oaks.

Mrs. Frances Allene Parnell Oaks of Ekron, KY, was the daughter of the later Demon Parnell and Annie Edwards Parnell. She was born Saturday, January 26, 1934 in Green County, KY, and departed this life on Monday, April 29, 2013 in Greensburg, Green County, KY. She was 79 years, 3 months, 3 days of age.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the New Brandenburg Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and a dairy farmer. She united in marriage to Wendell Lloyd Oaks who preceded her in death on July 22, 1983.

Survivors include the following:
  • Two sons and daughters in law: Hubert and Donna Oaks of Ekron, KY; and Joey Wayne and Connie Oaks of Florida

  • Four grandchildren and their spouses: Toby and Brandy Oaks, Staff Srgt. Jody and Candy Oaks, Ashley and Tim Berry all of Brandenburg, KY; and Michael and Stephanie Oaks of Florida

  • A special friend like a son: Carl Junior and Linda Posey of Greensburg, KY

  • <.li>Ten brothers and sisters and their spouses: Charles L. and Sue Parnell of Center, KY; Doris and Roger Sturgeon, Lucille Oaks, Ethel Wallace all of Horse Cave, KY; Donnie Parnell, Violet and Marvin Spoon, Jimmy Dell and Becky Parnell, Rebecca and David Spoon, all of Columbia, KY; J.W. Parnell of Edmonton, KY; and Linda and Michael Patterson of Greensburg, KY
  • and a host of other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Oaks was also preceded in death by two sons: Wendell Thomas Oaks on April 17, 1953, and Junior Oaks on June 26, 2002; a sister: Estelle Jeffries on August 6, 2000, half brother and sister: Byletta Shirley and Ogal Parnell.
