Carrie Helen Lester Garrett, 81, Beaumont, KY (1932-2013) "Helen" had a passion for cooking and fed numerous missionaries from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints of which she was a faithful member. Her church, her family, and her many neighbors and friends brought her much joy and contentment. She took great pride in keeping a nice home and also loved canning home-grown food and reading. In her later years, she kept busy as a home-health care-taker. She leaves 19 direct living descendants. Click on headline for complete obituary. Carrie Helen Lester Garrett, 81, formerly a long-time resident of Beaumont, Ky ,died April 24, 2013 at Canyon Cove Assisted Living in Orem, UT. A viewing will be held at the McMurtrey Funeral Home, 2232 Summer Shade Road, Summer Shade. KY 2pm-7pmCT, Tuesday, April 30, 2013, and at 11:30amCT, on Wednesday beginning at 11:30amCT, at the Glasgow ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 748 W. Cherry Street, Glasgow, KY after which funeral services will begin at 1pmCT Interment will be at the Summer Shade Cemetery. She died April 24, 2013, in Orem, Utah County, UT, at the age of 81 years, 9 months. She was preceded in death by her husband James Murison Garrett and four brothers, Murl, Tennison, Raymond and Wayne Lester. "Helen" had a passion for cooking and fed numerous missionaries from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints of which she was a faithful member.
