Billy Jessie writes:
As the plant manager for Assisted Transportation Systems in Green River Commerce Park, I oversee daily operations in the conversion facility. I have been researching these types of Feed meal operations across the country to get a better sense of the kind of operation proposed in the Green River Commerce Park. I oversee 24 employees at this location and safety inside and outside the facility is a big concern. I hope the powers that be take into consideration the employees that are already employed at the Commerce Park. Thanks Billy Jessie -Billy Jessie
Thanks, Billy Jessie: Surely the group seeking to bring the facility to Columbia would not want the liability of creating a dangerous situation for the highly skilled, highly paid employes at Assisted Transportations Systems. There is some information available about the hazards of working in a Feed Mail at the United States Department of Labor Site, at this link: Grain Handling/OSHA Quick Takes which gives information on dangers to workers and surrounding areas from Grain Dust Explosions and Grain Engulfment hazards for workers. -CM
