A 2013 ACHS Prom Album - A Step Back in Time

Each prom is three years in the making, the culmination of hard work, fundraising, planning and carrying out one of the legacies of each succeeding junior class. This may have been the best yet.

This album, as of 5:55amCT, Sunday morning, April 21, 2013, has a few looks just before the event took place. Additional photos and a "write up" are welcome. ACHS Gym: Ready for the Prom - A Step Back in Time



2013-04-20 - ACHS, 526 Indian Drive, Columbia KY - Photo CM staff photo. The Adair County High School Gym has been lavishly decorated to tonight's senior prom. The theme this year is "A Step Back in Time." The gym was open for parents and community members to visit prior to the start of the event. Decorations were by Swan's Landing Catering of Campbellsville, KY, established by Columbia, KY native Linda Hughes Clark. The Class of 2014, Juniors now, are the hosts for this year's graduating Seniors, the ACHS Class of 2013. Junior Advisors supervising the entire event are Chad Parnell and Robyn Mantooth.

2013 ACHS Prom: Junior Sponsors

Junior Sponsors Chad Parnell and Robyn Mantooth in the Adair County High School Gym, decorated in a theme "A Step Back in Time." The Junior Class is the host each year for the Prom. The Seniors are their guests. The host classes prepares for the expense of the prom - several thousand dollars - by raising funds in their freshman, sophomore, and junior years.

A Step Back in Time: Old time reel-to-reel movie camera

Swan's Landing Catering Co.
staff members Francine Neat, Columbia, and Greg Hash, Campbellsville set up a prop representing an old time reel-to-reel movie camera. They are two of a staff of some 30 employees of Swan's Landing.

Ready for the prom - Adair County High School 2013



2013-04-21 - ACHS, 526 Indian Drive, Columbia KY - Photo CM staff photo. Adair County High School's John Burr Memorial Gymnasium was re-purposed into a ballroom this week for last night's 2013 Prom. This grand entrance, down the steps in front of the building, led to an "A Step Back in Time," wonderland. Each prom is three years in the making. Freshman start the planning that far in advance, raising funds for the events, which cost several thousand dollars to produce. In their junior year, the plan is executed, with students and their class advisors - this year teachers Chad Parnell and Robyn Mantooth - worked with the juniors to stage the extravaganza for the graduating seniors; knowing that next year, the juniors of today will be the honored guests.
