Farmers Market was fantastic - promises to get bigger and bigger The Farmer's Market on the Square is open every Saturday from 8am-12pm noon CT, at the Adair Annex Parking Lot, 424 Public Square, Columbia, KY Click on headline or story with large photo album By Barbara Armitage The first Farmer's Market on the Square has been closed for nearly 6 hours Saturday evening, April 20, 2013, as this is written - and the adrenalin is still flowing! The Farmer's Market on the Square is the realization of dreams. For nearly a year Darrell Bunnell, Cait and Jimmy Helm, Jeff Scott, Beth Rutherford, and Wayne and Barbara Armitage somehow made time between planting and picking and harvesting to bring their vision of the perfect Farmer's Market to life. Saturday April 20, 2013 was our opening day and I want to say thank you to just about everyone. There's a whole support team working behind the scenes making this market happen. Special thanks to County Judge Executive Ann Melton for too, too many things to count. Thanks to all of the farmer's, gardeners, crafters, artisans, and everyone who braved the cold to make this market a special place to shop. And our biggest thanks of all go to our customers who came out bright and early on a Saturday morning to support something new. I hope that we see you all again next Saturday and the next Saturday... And, if you didn't make it to the opening day of the Farmer's Market on the Square, don't panic - you'll get another chance. The Farmer's Market on the Square is open every Saturday from 8am-12pm noon CT, at the Adair Annex Parking Lot, 424 Public Square, Columbia, KY. We met so many new friends at the market this morning. There was a very nice lady from South Africa who has missed the fresh produce that living in an area with a year round growing season has to offer. Our season is just beginning - I can promise you that soon the market will have tables laden with fresh locally grown produce. For the customer who told us that she has been driving to Louisville, Bowling Green and all points in between to shop for Kentucky's finest vegetables, cheeses, meats and more don't despair. You'll find everything you're looking for at The Farmer's Market on the Square every Saturday morning. Are you a discriminating shopper? Are you looking for fresh locally grown produce? Unique hand crafted gifts? The Farmer's Market on the Square is the place for you. - Barbara Armitage. This story was posted on 2013-04-21 04:14:00
