Taylor Co. Sheriffs Dept. makes arrest following shooting death

Murder investigation: Sixty year old Orvey Carl Harris found dead at his home on Saloma Road; 56 year old man arrested, charged with murder, shortly afterward

One Detective Brian Pickard of Taylor County Sheriff's Department arrested Richard Riggs, 56 years of age, of 3150 Maple Road, Campbellsville, KY, on a charge of murder, following a late night incident Friday, April 19, 2013, at 10331 Saloma Road, Campbellsville, KY, which involved the death of 60 year old Orvey Carl Harris.



The Taylor County Sheriff Department responded to a complaint of a shooting at 10331 Saloma Road in Campbellsville, KY, at 11:20pmET.

Upon arrival, the Sheriff's Department found 60 year-old Orvey Carl Harris deceased inside the residence from a single gunshot wound to the chest. Investigation revealed that Riggs had gone to the residence of Harris around 11pmET, where a physical altercation took place. During the altercation, Riggs shot Harris one time in the chest and fled the scene.

The Sheriff's Department took Riggs into custody without incident at his residence on Maple Road. Riggs was charged with Murder and lodged in the Taylor County Detention Center.
