On Butterfly's Wings: WKU-Glasgow adds new sculpture Sculpture by Kevin Robb was originally on Bowling Green Campus. It was moved to Glasgow, KY campus today, Thursday, April 18, 2013 Click on headline for story with photo(s) By Dr. John Roberts, WKU/Glasgow GLASGOW, KY (April 18, 2013) - The sculpture, "On Butterfly's Wings," was installed on the campus of Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green in 2008. Following recent discussions on ways in which to further enhance the campus of WKU-Glasgow, WKU President, Dr. Gary Ransdell, approved a request to move the sculpture to the Glasgow campus, and on Thursday, April 18, 2013, the piece was relocated to the WKU-Glasgow at 500 Hilltopper Way. "On Butterfly's Wings is a visual example of our University's long appreciation of the arts, and we are very privileged and appreciative to have this beautiful piece on our campus," said Dr. Sally Ray, Chancellor of WKU-Glasgow and former Department Head of Communications in Potter College. "Our students, faculty, staff and community will be able to enjoy this beautiful sculpture for years to come." "On Butterfly's Wings" is located prominently at the front of the building near the main entrance. The variably flowing forms of "On Butterfly's Wings" are composed of welded stainless steel. Its whorled exterior captures the artist's aggressive arm gestures while using a power grinder to finish the work's surfaces. Sculptor Kevin Robb of Wheat Ridge, Colorado, created this spirited sculpture. - Dr. John Roberts, Coordinator, Communications and Student Recruitment WKU-Glasgow This story was posted on 2013-04-18 14:59:24
