John C. Russell, Casey County, KY (1930-2013)

He was a retired truck driver and a member of American Legion Post in Paris, Tennessee. John attended the Whitlock Church of Christ and Van Dyke Church of Christ. He was an Army Veteran serving his country during the Korean Conflict from 1948 to 1951, having achieved the rank of corporal

John C. Russell passed away Saturday April 6, 2013 at his home in Paris, TN . He was 82.

Funeral services are 1pmCT/2pmET, Wednesday April 10, 2013 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY, with Bro. J. D. McDonald officiating. Burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery with military honors by the Casey County Funeral Squad and the US Army Fort Knox Honor Guard. Visitation is Wednesday from 9amCT/10amET, until funeral service.



Pallbearers are Casey Russell, Eddie Russell, John Allen, Chris Bennett, Brandon Irby and Richie Papaleo. Honorary pallbearers are Dallas and Gene Russell.

He was born Saturday, April 19, 1930 in Casey County, KY. He was the son of the late John W. and Lucy Ann Murphy Russell. He died Saturday, April 6, 2013, in Paris, Henry County, TN, at the age of 82 years, 11 months, and 19 days.

He was a retired truck driver and a member of American Legion Post in Paris, Tennessee. John attended the Whitlock Church of Christ and Van Dyke Church of Christ. He was an Army Veteran serving his country during the Korean Conflict from 1948 to 1951, having achieved the rank of corporal.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Betty M. Miller Russell, whom he married January 7, 1950, and the following:
  • Daughters: Jane R. Coddington, of Tustin CA

  • Four sons: James L. ( and Darla) Russell, Jack C. (and Anne) Russell, and Billy R. (and Rosemary) Russell all of Paris , TN; and Jeffery A. (and Peggy) Russell of Cottage Grove, TN

  • Fourteen grandchildren

  • Sixteen great-grandchildren

  • And two great great grandchildren
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by five sisters and six brothers.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY.
