The Center, Brushy Fork, accepting grant proposals The Center for Rural Development and Brushy Fork Institute are accepting grant applications for ARDPI mini-grants in Adair County By Sharon Dodson News from the Center for Rural Development The Center for Rural Development and Brushy Fork Institute are accepting grant proposals from Adair County through April 22, 2013 for Appalachian Rural Development Philanthropy Initiative (ARDPI) mini-grants to fund philanthropic capacity-building activities. Government and non-profit organizations in 43 Southern and Eastern Kentucky counties are eligible to apply for up to $8,000 in federal grant funding through the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) for an ARDPI community foundation capacity building mini-grant project. ARDPI mini-grants are competitive grants available to non-profit entities or units of government that are in the initial stages of developing a comprehensive community philanthropy effort. The grants are awarded to communities that want to better understand what options are available and make informed decisions as they determine the appropriate philanthropy strategy. Peer learning opportunities, educational programs and related events, as well as other tools, are available to recipient communities through ARDPI partners during the 2013 funding cycle. Eligibility guidelines, funding availability, and grant application materials may be downloaded at Request for Proposals Appalachian Rural Development Philanthropy Initiative (ARDPI). For more information on ARDPI mini-grant guidelines or a free online grant training workshop on Thursday, April 11, to provide technical support for ARDPI grant applicants, contact Patti Simpson at The Center at 606-677-6000 or Jane Higgins at the Brushy Fork Institute at 859-985-3436 or email arc@centertech.com. All ARDPI projects awarded funding during this funding cycle must be completed within six months, beginning June 1 through Nov. 30, 2013. Awards will be announced at an ARDPI event on May 14, 2013 at The Center for Rural Development in Somerset, 2292 South Highway 27, Somerset, KY 42501. ARDPI is a shared effort of the Kentucky Philanthropy Initiative, Endow Kentucky, the Blue Grass Community Foundation, the Foundation for Appalachian Kentucky, the Foundation for the Tri-State Community, The Center for Rural Development, and Brushy Fork Institute.
