Chromebooks for Casey: A gift of $99 buys $500 laptop

Opportunity to Provide Low-Cost Technology for Some of Adair's Youngest Students
Responsible Giving, the Adair County Way: 100% of proceeds on this one go for 30 top-of-the-line Samsung Chromebooks, each worth $500, and which Col. Casey can acquire for just $99.00 each! It's being done through DonorsChoose. To give right now, click to Chromebooks for Casey. You can give any amount, but wouldn't it be great if 30 people got the entire 30 Chromebooks in hours or days buy giving $99.00 each to buy one of the devices each?

By Patty Jones, Principal
Col. Wm. Casey Elementary School

I do not think there is anyone who could argue successfully that our students could afford not to be proficient in technology to advance in the 21st Century. However, technology hardware is not being handed out on the street corner either. As funds in public education become less and less, demands for proficient students increases. As an administrator of a public school I am continually searching for ways to get more for less, just as we all are in our private lives as well.

Recently I stumbled on a chance to get laptops for our students at a greatly reduced rate on a site called donorschoose.org. Other educators in our district have used this site to fund projects and activities in their schools. Through the cooperation of Google the site is offering an opportunity to fund 30 Chromebook laptops for $99 each.

The laptops are top of the line Samsung Chromebooks, reg. retail $500+

These are top of the line Samsung Chromebooks that normally sell for over $500. Chromebooks are a web-based tool that combines the best of the popular tablet products (such as iPads) with the best of the traditional laptops, which is basically the keyboard.

As all of our kindergarten through 2nd grade students move into Adair County Primary Center next year this would be a great opportunity to provide all of our county's youngest students with state of the art tools.

I am reaching out to the community to help us provide these tools for our students. This site will allow donations of any size and all donations will help make this project possible for our county's students. If you wish to make a donation or learn more about the project you can do so by going to this link:

If anyone has questions or suggestions they may contact me at 270-384-3367 or patty.jones@adair.kyschools.us.

This is a great opportunity to provide state of the art technology at an amazingly low level of expense. Patty R. Jones, Principal, Col. Wm. Casey Elementary School, 220 Gen. John Adair Drive Columbia, KY 42728 270-384-3367
