Vine Grove woman shot during domestic dispute in Meade Co.

Husband lodged in Meade County Detention Center, charged with Attempted Murder - Domestic Violence

FLAHERTY, KY - On Friday, April 5, 2013 at 3:08pmET, KSP Post 4 received a call from the Meade County Sheriff's Office requesting assistance on a shooting that occurred at 2260 Rabbit Run Road in the Flaherty community of Meade County. Upon units arrival, it was learned that Jackie Cook, 51-year-old white male from Flaherty, had shot his estranged wife during an argument.

The female, Magdelena Cook, 47, of Vine Grove, ran to neighbor's house for help. She was subsequently flown to University of Louisville Hospital with gunshot wounds to the legs, and is currently in stable condition.

Mr. Cook surrendered after a brief standoff with police, and was taken into custody without incident. He was arrested and lodged in the Meade County Detention Center, charged with Attempted Murder - Domestic Violence. Addition charges could be pending as the investigation continues. KSP was assisted on scene by the Meade County Sheriff's Office, Muldraugh Police Department, and Meade County EMS. KSP Detective Jonathan Vaughn is leading the ongoing investigation. -MTPR Norman Chaffins
