Columbia, KY Goodwill asks community to donate goods (Responsible Giving: Goodwill of Kentucky does not have a Charity Navigator rating, but other similar Goodwills do and might serve as a guide. We personally support this local store as well as the Shepherd Shop. - EW) From Goodwill of Kentucky COLUMBIA, KY - Columbia's Goodwill center, 212 Dohoney Trace, Columbia, KY, is asking for the community's help in supplementing its flow of donated items. While donations and sales at Goodwill have remained largely steady across the state, some areas have experienced noticeable decreases in donations following the end-of-year rush for tax deduction purposes. "Donations slow down a little from January through March, in between the holidays and spring cleaning," said Deb Gastineau, center manager at Columbia's Goodwill. Gastineau said the Columbia location is in need of gently-used clothing and household items. She also noted that donations serve a bigger purpose than providing bargain shopping. "Donations help Goodwill create jobs and job training for people with disabilities or other barriers to employment," said Gastineau. "With the economy still recovering, we just hope we receive enough donations to keep supporting our employment and training programs for the people we serve in the Columbia area." Donors are encouraged to bring their gently-used clothing, shoes, accessories, household items, small appliances, toys, books, movies, and music to their local donation drive-thru where Goodwill employees will help them unload and provide a tax receipt for the donated goods.
