By Nick Roy, Adair County ANR Extension Agent

In celebration of Agriculture Literacy Week, Farm Bureau Women's Chair, Dana King organized a community to school literature event. The Adair County Young Farmers Organization and Adair County Farm Bureau presented Colonel William Casey Elementary School with a "Learning Barn" built by the ACYFO.

Present were Dana King; Adair County Farm Bureau Women's Chair, Ben Loy, Chad Brown, Nick Roy; Adair County ANR Agent, Chris Coomer, Mike McMinoway, and Brian Cowan.

Over nine hundred dollars' worth of books were included in the book barn. Members of the Adair County Young Farmers visited classrooms and read aloud farm related books to kindergarten, first and second grade students. The young farmers also discussed the importance of agriculture in our community and how food gets from the farm to our tables. The Learning Barn was constructed by the Adair County Young Farmers and sponsored by local businesses and farmers. - Nick Roy, Adair County Extension Agent for Agriculture and Natural Resources
