LWC Softball loses to Auburn-Montgomery 1-0 on home run

Long streak ends

GULF SHORES, AL - Jyssica Pepper led off the fourth inning with a home run to center field that was all No. 8 Auburn-Montgomery needed to top the 15th-ranked Lindsey Wilson softball team 1-0 on Sunday, March 10, 2013, in the Orange Beach Invitational at the Gulf Shores Sportsplex.

Pepper went 3 for 3 for the game and stole a base as the Warhawks (14-1) and Blue Raiders each finished with just five hits. Pitcher Kristina Krupinski led the Lindsey Wilson (14-2) offense with two hits, while outfielder Antoinette Jenkins added two stolen bases to one hit.

The loss comes in the first round of the invitational's gold bracket, bringing an end to the Blue Raiders' spring-break road trip. Lindsey Wilson qualified for the top bracket after finishing 3-1 in pool play on Friday and Saturday, March 8-9, 2013.

In the three days combined, Lindsey Wilson topped Belhaven (Miss.) 1-0, Columbia (MO) 9-1 and No. 10 Houston-Victoria (TX) 4-2. The Blue Raiders' two losses came against Spring Hill (AL) 1-0 and AUM 1-0.
