2013 FFA Greenhand Ceremony sees induction of 57 freshmen

Over 150 parents and other family members present as 57 freshmen receive Greenhand Degree. State FFA President Ali Higgs recognizes Quiz Winner Allison Burrison and Creed Winner Coby Taylor

On Tuesday. February 26, 2013 at 6:30pmCT the local Adair County FFA Chapter held their annual FFA Greenhand Ceremony in the Adair County High School Cafeteria.

The event was a great success with 57 freshmen receiving their official Greenhand Degree. Over 150 parents and other family members and friends came to congratulate the Greenhands on their success with their freshman year of FFA.



There were many events in the program such as an opening devotion by chapter sweetheart Whittney Ford. Then Mr. Travis Gay, Vice principal, welcomed everyone on behalf of Adair County High School.

Next students were motivated with special greetings from State FFA President Ali Higgs.

Then Kenzie Rowe from Farm Service Agency spoke to the Greenhands about FFA Project loans.

Finally, Crystal Caldwell representing the Adair County FFA Alumni spoke to the parents and supporters about getting involved with alumni fundraising efforts.

The officers also held a quiz contest and a creed contest with Allison Burris being the winner of the quiz contest and Coby Taylor being the winner of the creed contest.

The Ceremony was a very successful with help from all the 2012-2013 Senior Officers and Jr. Officers. Also with help from our advisors, Kirby Hancock, Randy Rexroat and Larry Johnson.

The meeting was adjourned by President Jameson Keen at 8:00pm and then refreshments were served by the Jr. Officers. The Adair County FFA Chapter would like to give special thanks to all the volunteers that helped make the program a success. - Jessica Simpson
