Boys Basketball: ACHS Indians, TCHS Cardinals going Regional

But next, Indians will face Taylor County Cardinals, 62-41 winners over Campbellsville High Eagles in the other first round district game for 20th District Title. In last night's game with Marion County, ACHS 8th grader Chance Melton has 24 points to lead team. Eighth grader Kel Stotts has 15. Other - Matt Fudge 12, Ty Bennett 4, Marshall Shelley 4, Zach Hutchison 3, and Gabriel Alfaro 3. Also seeing action were Jayden Willis, Jake Hixson, Tanner Pooler, Colton Back, Kyle Burton, Aaran Taylor, and Kyle Burton.

It will be Adair County vs. Taylor County for the championship of the 20th District at 6:30pmCT/7:30pmET, Friday night, February 22, 2013, at Adair County's John Burr Memorial Gymnasium, 526 Indian Drive, Columbia, KY.

Both teams will advance to 5th Region Tournament. In two previous meetings this season, Taylor County has won, by 46-37 on December 7, 2012, but by a much smaller margin in the second meeting on the Indians' home court, on January 22, 2013, with the score Adair County 38, Taylor County 40.




Adair Co. 65. Marion County 45

The Adair County Indians jumped out to a 23-4 first period lead and never took their foot off the accelerator as they coasted to a 65-45 first round victory in the 20th district tournament which is being played at the John Burr Memorial Gym on the campus of the Adair County High School. The Indians led 40-17 at halftime and 54-29 after three periods.

The Indians were paced in scoring by Eighth graders Chance Melton and Kel Stotts with 24 and 15 points respectably. Rounding out the scoring were Matt Fudge 12, Ty Bennett 4, Marshall Shelley 4, Zach Hutchison 3, and Gabriel Alfaro 3. Also seeing action were Jayden Willis, Jake Hixson, Tanner Pooler, Colton Back, Kyle Burton, Aaran Taylor, and Kyle Burton.

The Tribe was led in rebounding by Melton and Willis with eight and five. Fudge and Stotts handed out four assists each. The Indians were 23-45 from the field, 5-14 from the three, and 14-19 from the charity stripe. The Knights were 17-48 from the field, 2-15 from the three and 9-22 from the free throw line. The Knights outrebounded the Indians 32-29.
