News from the Adair Co. High School Academic Team

Adair County High School Academic Team continued its tradition of winning excellence on February 16 at Greenwood High School during the 4th Region Championships. The Future Problem Solving team earned 1st Place honors once again and advanced to State Finals for the 9th year in a row.

The win also continued Adair's streak of nine straight years in which the school as a whole has earned a team championship at the Regional level. In addition, the astounding 9-year streak of State Finals appearances by ACHS Future Problem Solving can be claimed by only one other school in the state of Kentucky.

Heather Jackson captures Regional championships

ACHS Senior Heather Jackson also captured an individual Regional Championship in both Language Arts and Arts and Humanities. Jackson is the defending Regional champion in Language Arts and her score in both Language Arts and Arts and Humanities earns her a slot at Governor's Cup State Finals. Heather Jackson also eclipsed a record she sat last year among previous Adair County High School teams with the highest Language Arts score the team has ever achieved.

Jackson's score in the subject was also a Top 10 score statewide at Regional competition. This is Jackson's third year in a row of making it to State Finals competition in Language Arts. She also continues a dominant streak of nine State Finals appearances in a row for the Adair County High School team in the Language Arts event. Adair has finished 1st or 2nd in the subject every year but one during that streak.

Matt Rogers, Timothy Watson, Jessi Taylor qualify for State Finals

Joining Jackson in Arts and Humanities will be Junior Matt Rogers, as he placed 4th in the event. This was Rogers' first qualification for State Finals. Sophomores Timothy Watson and Jessi Taylor also recorded rare achievements by qualifying for State Finals in Science (Watson) and Composition (Taylor) in just their second year of high school competition. Both students were 5th place in their respective events.

Teammates Senior Cody Giles and Matt Rogers both missed State Finals qualifications in Composition and Social Studies by only one slot.
