Ovella Mae Patterson Nunn Wilson of Louisville, Kentucky, a native of Green County, KY, departed this life on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at the Essex Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility in Louisville, KY.

The funeral services for Ovella Mae Patterson will be conducted at 11amCT/12pm noon ET, Saturday, February 9, 2013 at the Cowherd & Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S Main Street, Greensburg, KY, with burial to follow in the Greasy Creek Cemetery, Green County. Bro. Roger Robertson will be officiating. Visitation will be at Heady-Hardy Funeral Home, 7710 Dixie Highway, Louisville, Kentucky on Thursday, 3pm-7pmCT/4pm-8pmET. A second visitation will be Friday, 4pm-8pmCT/5pm-9pmET, at the Cowherd & Parrott Funeral Home, and after 7amCT/8amET, Saturday until time of the funeral service.

Ovella Mae Patterson Nunn Wilson was the daughter of the late Floyd Lee Patterson and Annie Alzora Risen Patterson. She was born on Tuesday, January 8, 1935 in Greensburg, Green County, KY. She departed this life on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 in Louisville, Jefferson County, KY. She was 78 years, and 28 days of age.

She was a member of Shively Baptist Church after being a long time member of Carlisle Avenue Baptist Church. Ovella was honored with a Kentucky Colonel, and was a homemaker who deeply loved her family.

She was preceded in death by her two husbands: William L. Nunn and Carroll Edward Wilson.

Survivors include the following:
  • Her son: Barry Lee Nunn

  • Her step daughter: Barbara Ann Squires

  • A granddaughter: Jennifer Nunn

  • Two great granddaughters: Ava Hollis and Cloie Holmes

  • Two step grandsons: Eddie and Frankie (Traci) Squires

  • Two step-great grandchildren: Mary Beth and Kenny Squires all of Louisville, KY
  • Five brothers and four sisters and their spouses: Leroy and Joyce Patterson, Janice Ervin, Barbara Morgan all of Green County, KY; Udell Patterson of Carrollton, KY; Carlos and Sue Patterson, Shelby Patterson, Johnny and Donna Patterson, Patsy and Benny Grant, and Sherry and Kenneth Creason all from Green County, KY

  • And a host of other relatives and friends.

    It is with great appreciation to Eddie and Barbara Squires who have taken care of Ovella for the past two years.

    The family has asked that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Alzheimer Foundation, which can be made at the funeral home.
