Widow of slain businessman notified of delay in hearing

Judge James Bowling cancels tomorrow's scheduled hearing because of predicted bad weather. New hearing date yet to be scheduled

Tammy Kassem writes that she has been notified as a next of kin to Rex Coffey, who was murdered at the Beechgrove Separate Baptist Church picnic grounds in 2006, that a hearing set for 9amCT, tomorrow, Friday, February 1, 2013, in Adair Circuit Court, 201 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, has been postponed by Judge James Bowling, of Middlesboro, KY, who has cancelled the court session because of anticipated bad weather.

Commonwealth Attorney Gail Williams had filed a motion to alter or vacate Judge Bowling's order of January 11, 2013, releasing the accused in the case, Wellie Paul Grant, on an unsecured $100,000 bail bond. (See Story by Larry Smith, FM 92.7 about the release)

Mrs. Kassem, widowed by the death of Rex Coffey, said that WBKO-Tv in Bowling Green, KY will air a Special Report tonight, Thursday, January 31, 2013, at 10pmCT on the order releasing Wellie Paul Grant and the motion by Commonwealth's Attorney Gail Williams to alter or vacate the order. She said, too, "My sister in law wrote on her facebook page 'One's Decisions do affect many Lives' How true this is."
