Ralph Waggener: Stop Lights!!!! By Ralph "Out-of-order" Waggener Editor & Publisher,It's Just for a Smile News Stop light that last a full minute before changing like the one at intersection of KY 206 and KY 55 N increase the chance of someone running the amber light. This light is automated to recognize how many vehicles to let through before changing. If a auto let a full link of a car space while waiting then the light changes with only letting a few cars through, then you wait a full minute until it changes back to green. When vehicles take their time moving when they reach the square at the yield signs it makes the long line of cars waiting that much longer. The people who don't pay attention and move on when they have the chance help cause other drivers to get flustered after the long wait just to get to the square. The wait time at both the Square and at 206 helps cause people to want to get around the square as fast as possible as does the full 1 minute at 206. Don't blame just the speeders who are aggravated from the waiting time of drivers, who don't make any effort to keep traffic flowing, both help cause this problem. I like to get on and off of the Square as quickly as possible. I really don't like sitting in long lines of traffic, I have even gone so far to drive through the City Cemetery when Robert's chain is down. I hope I don't bother any of my relatives that are buried there and I find the drive through the cemetery to be a very relaxing time. Any problem can be addressed in more ways than one, and the traffic on the square has many ways to be improved. People will be people and after a long wait just to get to the square most drivers just want to get done and off of it. You can pass all the laws you want to but human nature will always prevail.
