The Adair County Indians boys basketball team won their fourth in a row with a convincing 76-47 win over Magoffin County, in the Al Prewitt Classic at Henry Clay High School, Lexington, KY, Saturday, January 19, 2013.

The victory was the eighth win in their last nine games, for the amazing young team - led by a pair of eighth graders - which is capturing the hearts of a community which is already comparing them to what was perhaps Adair County's greatest teams, the 1954-55 and 1955-56 John Burr State State Tournaments' No. 4, and No. 2 squads.

Chance Melton scored six first period points while Colten Back added five points as the Indians raced out to a 22-12 advantage. Kel Stotts scored all twelve of the Indians second period points as Adair led 34-23 at halftime.

The Tribe used a balanced attack in the second half as twelve players scored. The Indians used a 42-24 scoring margin to pull away to a 76-47 victory. The scoring for the Indians was as follows: Stotts 17, Melton 16, Back 9, Jayden Willis 6, Matt Fudge 6, Ty Bennett 5, Tanner Pooler 4, Marshall Shelley 3, Zach Hutchison 3, Kyle Burton 3, Jake Hixson 2, and Gabriel Alfaro 2. Also seeing action were Jacob Pooler, Trevor Willis, Aaran Taylor, and Trent Jones. Hixson, Melton, Shelley, and Bennett all came away with five rebounds.

The Indians will be back in action Tuesday, January 22, 2013, when they face Taylor County in an important district match up. The Indians are currently 3-1 in district play and could clinch the number one seed with a victory over the Cardinals.

The Cardinals enter action with a 2-2 district record while Marion County owns a 3-2 district record.
