President Barry Jones elaborates on the Adair Sportsman's Club Comments re article 56861 Wants to know what the Adair Sportsmens Club does By Barry Jones 2013 President of Adair County Wildlife and Conservation Club AKA,The Sportsman's Club To answer the question about the Adair Co. Sportsman's Club and what it does, let me elaborate. The Adair County Wildlife Conservation Club, commonly referred to as, "The Sportsman's Club," is a private, members only, 501.C 3 organization that is a non profit, tax deductible organization. We were established in 1954 and have operated continuously until present day. We are affiliated with the NRA. We have 5 safe shooting ranges, a fishing lake, walking trails and picnic areas on the 30 acre property. We promote safe shooting and responsible firearm ownership. The organization has officers and a board of directors that are elected every year and meet once a month on the first Tuesday at 7pm at the club house for a regular monthly meeting. We have scheduled shoots in most all disciplines, pistol, rifle, trap, black powder and archery. You may find us on our facebook page and our web site at www.adairsportsmen.org for scheduled shoots and more. We promote the Boy Scouts and the 4H shooting sports program and provide them a safe place to meet and train. We have hosted Area 4-H shoots and State NWTF shoots. We also promote the Concealed Carry Classes and NRA firearms training. We work closely with the Dept. of Fish and Wildlife, Local and State Law Enforcement Agencies, National Wild Turkey Federation and other wildlife conservation organizations. Memberships are $50 a year and run from January 1 till December 31 every year and may be purchased at Danny Downey's Gun and Pawn, Adair Pawn or from any officer. We just finished constructing a new entrance off of the Veterans Memorial Bypass located across the street from Majestic Yachts. We are planning an open house this spring so the community may come out and enjoy our manicured park like setting and become more familiar with our organization. I hope this helps.
