Columbia, KY's Brown & Brown of KY buys Gilbert RV Insurance Move means a few more jobs for downtown Columbia, KY Special to CM Business Story Columbia, KY-based Brown & Brown of Kentucky Inc., a subsidiary of Brown & Brown Inc., has acquired certain assets of Gilbert RV Insurance for an undisclosed price. The acquisition comes only five weeks after another Brown & Brown subsidiary purchased Simi Valley, California-based RV America Insurance. Gilbert RV Insurance's Orlando operations will operate as a branch location of Brown & Brown's RV division under the leadership of Mike Neal, CEO of Brown & Brown subsidiary Reed Brothers Insurance. Mr. Neal said that the growth of Brown & Brown is meaning a few more jobs for downtown Columbia. "We've added a couple of jobs just in the past few weeks," he said. The branch location operates from the second and third floor of the Dan Antle Building, 130-132 Public Square, by the Fountain Plaza in Downtown Columbia. Gilbert RV Insurance, which was sold by owners Alan and Teresa Gilbert, has combined annual revenues of approximately $2.4 million, according to Brown & Brown. "Over the past 20 years, Alan and Teresa Gilbert have built an agency with a national presence offering personal lines insurance coverage for RVs, motorcycles and other recreational and power sport vehicles and equipment," said J. Scott Penny, regional president and chief acquisitions officer of Brown & Brown Inc. "The acquisition of Gilbert RV Insurance, along with our prior acquisitions of RV America and Reed Brothers, allows Brown & Brown's RV division to become the preeminent supplier of personal lines and commercial insurance products to the RV, auto, marine and power sport industries." Founded in 1992, Gilbert RV Insurance provides personal lines property and casualty insurance products and warranty products for RVs, trailers, boats, motorcycles and other power sport vehicles. "My wife Teresa and I are very excited about the acquisition of Gilbert RV Insurance into the Brown & Brown family. The growth of Brown & Brown over the last 25 years has been remarkable, and I look forward to working with them in the years to come," said Alan Gilbert. This story was posted on 2013-01-03 09:15:00
