Jerry L. Burton, Campbellsville, KY (1930-2012)

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Trammell Creek Baptist Church. He was a former printer for Faucet Printing Company, and Delco Paper Products. He was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the United States Marine Corps. He drove the D.A.V. Van for nine years, a life member of the Marine Corps. League, past All State Commander #6182, a member of the James L. Pruitt V.F.W. Post No. 5813, a member of the American Legion Post No. 82, a Kentucky Colonel, Scottish Rite, Pitman Masonic Lodge No. 124.

Mr. Jerry L. Burton, 82, of Campbellsville, Kentucky, departed this life on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at his home.

The funeral services for Mr. Jerry L. Burton will be conducted at 10amCT/11amET, Saturday, December 15, 2012 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S. Main Street, Greensburg, KY, with burial to follow in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens, 3878 Greensburg Road, Campbellsville, KY, with full military honors conducted by the Marion County Veteran's Honor Guard. Bro. Carlos Compton will be officiating. There will a Masonic service held at 6pmCT/7pmET, Friday, December 14, 2012, at the funeral home conducted by the Pitman Masonic Lodge #124. Visitation is requested 4pm-8pmCT/5pm9pmET, Friday, December 14, 2012, at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7amCT/8amET, Saturday until time of the funeral service.

Mr. Jerry L. Burton was the son of the late William "Bill" Burton and Ruth Logsdon Burton. He was born on June 15, 1930 in Harlan County, Kentucky, He departed this life on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at his home. He was 82 years, 5 months, and 27 days of age. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Trammell Creek Baptist Church. He was a former printer for Faucet Printing Company, and Delco Paper Products. He was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the United States Marine Corps. He drove the D.A.V. Van for nine years, a life member of the Marine Corps. League, past All State Commander #6182, a member of the James L. Pruitt V.F.W. Post No. 5813, a member of the American Legion Post No. 82, a Kentucky Colonel, Scottish Rite, Pitman Masonic Lodge No. 124. He united in marriage to Olgie Pauline Judd Burton on December 31, 1960 who preceded him in death on June 2, 2011.

Survivors include:
  • a step-granddaughter and caregiver: Tiffany Lapetina and her husband Scott of Greensburg, KY

  • A step-grandson: Porter Lobb and his wife Kim of Greensburg, KY

  • Five step great grandchildren: Courtney Reliford of Campbellsville, KY; Tayshaun Bridgewater, Bryson Bridgewater both of Greensburg, KY; and Ezrah Caven, and Antigonee Caven, both of Campbellsville, KY

  • A step great great grandchild: Chesney Reliford of Campbellsville, KY

  • A caregiver and former daughter in law: Marcia Clark of Greensburg, KY

  • A special cousin: Terry Burton of Louisville, KY

  • And a host of other relatives and friends
Mr. Burton was also preceded in death by a step-son: Curtis E. "BoJack" Lobb; two brothers and two sisters: Jimmy Burton, Ronnie Burton, Lillian Burton, and Virginia Maupin. Send a condolence to the family of Jerry L. Burton
