Lou Cunningham Classic games at CU helps Toy drives

CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY - Campbellsville University Athletics and Tiger Basketball are joining the Campbellsville/Taylor County Toys for Tots and Toys for Kids drives by offering free admission to the men's basketball, 13th annual Lou Cunningham Classic, Friday-Saturday, December 7-8, 2012, at Powell Athletic Center, 203 Tiger Way, Campbellsville, KY.



Fans will receive free admission when they bring a toy to the gate or make a minimum donation of $10 to Toys for Tots. The offer is good one per person, per day of the tournament.

Toys can be donated for ages ranging from an infant to 13. Toy donation program organizers ask that no toy weapons or violent toys be donated. Also, the donation of stuffed animals is asked to be limited.

This is the second-straight year, CU athletics has helped raise toys through an early December basketball tournament. Last year, more than $600 worth of toys were donated during the women’s basketball classic.

Toys and donations collected through the Lou Cunningham Classic will be donated to Toys for Tots and Toys for Kids through the Campbellsville/Taylor County Emergency Medical Services and Campbellsville/Taylor County Fire Department. Both drives are managed by the Lake Cumberland Community Action Agency.

Toys will be distributed to those in need throughout Campbellsville and Taylor County on Monday, December 24, 2012. If anyone is interested in helping to distribute the toys, they may visit Campbellsville/Taylor County Emergency Medical Services (CTCEMS), 105 S Columbia Avenue, Campbellsville, KY, or Campbellsville/Taylor County Emergency Medical Services (CTCFD), 100 W Broadway Street. Campbellsville, KY on December 24, 2012 at 8amET/7amCT.

Campbellsville will host three NAIA preseason Top 25 teams in the 2012 Lou Cunningham Classic.

Campbellsville University meets No. 22 Martin Methodist College (Pulaski, TN) at 9pmET/8pmCT, Friday, December 7, 2012, in the men's basketball Lou Cunningham Classic, at Powell Athletic Center, 203 Tiger Way, Campbellsville, KY.

Campbellsville University Men's Basketball will host Robert Morris at 5pmET/4pmCT, Saturday, December 8, 2012, in the men's basketball Lou Cunningham Classic, at Powell Athletic Center, 203 Tiger Way, Campbellsville, KY.
The Lou Cunningham Classic is held in memory of CU’s longest tenured men’s basketball coach, Lou Cunningham, who collected 335 wins in 25 seasons for the Tigers. He coached Campbellsville to its first two NAIA Tournament appearances in 1981 and 1991. - Chris Megginson, Campbellsville University
