LWC Women's Soccer team brings 3rd National title back home

Columbia/Adair County, KY, and Lindsey Wilson College now home to an even dozen National Soccer titles. This was third championship for women's program; men have nine national championships

COLUMBIA, KY - The Lindsey Wilson College women's soccer team returned Sunday afternoon, December 2, 2012m to the college's A.P. White Campus with the program's third NAIA national trophy and iconic red banner. Several dozen LWC students, faculty and staff members greeted the team at the Cralle Student Union Building, where an impromptu celebration was held.

LWC won the 2012 NAIA women's soccer national title Saturday night in Orange Beach, AL., with a 3-2 win over Olivet Nazarene (Bourbonnais, IL) University. It is the program's third national title. - Duane Bonifer

Lindsey Wilson College's Mia Persson of Sjobo, Sweden, second from right, speaks to Blue Raider fans during Sunday afternoon's celebration in the Cralle Student Union Building. Persson, who had five goals and five assists in the five-game tournament, was named the 2012 NAIA championship's Most Valuable Player and was also the Champions of Character Select Sport America-NAIA Scholarship Recipient. Coach Debbie McGuinness was on 2004 National title team
