Virginia D. Wilborn, 83, Summer Shade, KY (d. Nov. 18, 2012)

She was a Monroe County, KY, native and the matriarch of a respected Summer Shade, KY family. She leaves five direct living descendants. She was a retired employee of the Monroe Co. Medical Center and was a member of the Union# 2 Baptist Church

Virginia D. Wilborn, age 83 of Summer Shade, died Sunday, November 18, 2012 at NHC Healthcare in Glasgow, KY.

Funeral services will be at 11amCT, Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at the McMurtrey Funeral Home, 2232 Summer Shade Road, Summer Shade, KY, with Bro. Berlin Roy officiating. Burial will follow in the White Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2pmCT, Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at the funeral home.


She was a Monroe County, KY native. She was a daughter of the late Harley and Eva Gentry Billingsley and wife of the late Gerald Wilborn.

She was a retired employee of the Monroe Co. Medical Center and was a member of the Union# 2 Baptist Church.

She is survived by the following:
  • A daughter: Connie Garrett (Ivan Wright) of Summer Shade , KY

  • One granddaughter: Kim Lambert (Owen) of Glasgow, KY

  • One great gandchild: Kaci Johnson (Seth Ray)

  • Two great great grandsons: Landon Wilkerson and Aidin Adwell

  • Two sisters: Sally Grenead of Summer Shade, KY; and Ruth Compton (William) of Indianapolis, IN

  • One brother: Richard Billingsley of TN

  • Special friend: Huey Frazier
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one great grandson, Justin Wilkerson and one brother, Robert Billinsley.

McMurtrey Funeral Home, 2232 Summer Shade Road, Summer Shade, KY, in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the White Cemetery c/o McMurtrey Funeral Home, 2232 Summe Shade Rd. Summer Shade, Ky. 42166.
