Car crashes into BP station; driver injured; big fire ensues Billowing smoke, blazing inferno, and tense moments as Campbellsville Fire Department brings conflagration under control. Driver, who suffered a medical episode prior to crash, treated at Taylor Regional Hospital - four passengers in vehicle uninjured. Fire draws large numbers of spectators Click on headline for full story, Larry Smith photo(s) By Larry Smith, Operations Manager, The Big Dawg, 99.9 FM A 20 year old driver, Christopher Kent of Campbellsville, KY, lost control of his 2006 Chevy Cobalt while traveling north on Jackson Street and struck the rear of the BP station at 509 N. Broadway, causing the vehicle and the store to catch fire as well. Campbellsville Police say Kent lost control due to a having a medical episode. The accident occurred at 2:36pmET, Saturday, November 17, 2012. The Campbellsville Fire Department contained the fire, but major damage was sustained by the structure. The fireman were on the scene for over an hour, and the billowing smoke drew hundreds of spectators and stalled traffic along Broadway during the aftermath. Kent was transported to Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville, KY, for treatment. The four passengers in Kent's vehicle, Marvin Brown, 33; Jordan Reins, 20; Dalton Kent, 20; and Cody Garrett were not injured. Agencies on the scene were Campbellsville Police Department, Taylor County Sheriff's Office, Campbellsville/Taylor County Emergency Medical Services, and Campbellsville Fire and Rescue.
