Mayor Mark D. Harris welcomes new City Council Mayor Mark D. Harris, made this statement from his office, November 7, 2012: By Mark D. Harris, Mayor I was pleased with the selection of another highly qualified City Council in yesterday's election. I'm looking forward to working, again with Dr. Rogers, who was on the board when I first started working for the city, and with Charles Grimsley, who has served - during most of my career - as a City Council member and with the Parks and Recreation Board. Congratulations, also, to returning council members Craig Dean, Linda Waggener, Robert Flowers and June Parson on their re-election. I know all these board members have the best interest of the City Of Columbia at heart. We will greatly miss the service of Jim Hadley and Tony Grider, who were excellent members of the council and always put the interest of the citizens of Columbia first. I only hope that they will have time to continue to be involved in the affairs of the city. My heartfelt thanks to them. The City of Columbia had a list of 10 great candidates this election, including newcomer to the political scene Craig Lasley and longtime Columbia Councilman Joe Moore. Only six could win, but I would have welcomed any or all of the 10 candidates to serve with me. With the grace of God and a lot of hard work on our part, the next two years should be exciting, progressive ones for Columbia, Mark D. Harris, Mayor City of Columbia, KY City Hall, 116 Campbellsville Street This story was posted on 2012-11-07 09:29:44
