DAV service officer will visit VFW Oct. 1, 2012

By Joe Hare, Post Commander
News from VFW Post 6097, Columbia, KY

VFW Columbia Post 6097 is pleased to announce the that on Monday, October 1, 2012 there will be a Disabled American Veterans, Service Officer at our post, 411 Fairground Street, Columbia, KY, to assist any veteran with any needs or problems they may have in regards to VA benefits.

We will start taking registrations at 08:30amCT and will close registrations at 11amCT. All persons who are registered by 11amCT will be seen. The location will be at the VFW Post at 411 Fairground St, Columbia, Ky. There will be no appointments taken prior to the first; all are on a first come, first served basis. This service is available to all veterans; you do not have to be a member of our Post or any other veteran organization.

Also this is in no way in any competition with the Veterans Rep who is now coming to Columbia. We began working on getting this service during the lull when we had no VA Rep coming in after the retirement of Gary Jones. We only want to assist veterans and if there is enough demand, this DAV Service Officer will be coming here monthly after the first of the year. - Joe Hare, Post 6097, Commander
