LW Football weekend off to winning start - Men's Soccer does it!

Men's Soccer defeats Vanguard; tonight it's LWC football making history with Blue Raider Stadium's first top-25 showdown in stadium history

COLUMBIA, KY - Lindsey Wilson College's football doubleheader weekend got off to a winning start on Friday night, September 14, 2012. The LWC "European-style men's football team" shut out visiting Vanguard University of Costa Mesa, California, 1-0 Friday night at Walter S. Reuling Stadium on a goal by Yazeed Davids of Cape Town, South Africa. LWC improved to 7-0-0; Vanguard fell to 1-5-1.

With the win, the Blue Raiders, the No. 1 team in the NAIA, extended the program's win streak to 30 games, the second longest in NAIA soccer history.



The second half of the LWC football weekend is at 7pmCT Saturday at Blue Raider Stadium, 928 Russell Road, Columbia, KY. The Blue Raiders, ranked No. 24 in the NAIA, host No. 3-ranked Georgetown College, of Georgetown, KY. It will be the first top-25 showdown in stadium history. - Duane Bonifer
