Lonnie Pike, Adair County, KY (1933-2012)

He was a native of the Ella Community of Adair County, KY. He was a US Army veteran and trained thoroughbred horses across the United States. He will buried at New Hope Cemetery near his birthplace, with full military honors rendered by Columbia VFW Post 6097.

Lonnie Pike age 79 years of Science Hill, Ky. formerly of Adair County, Kentucky passed away Sunday at the Veterans Hospital in Lexington, KY after several months illness.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at 1pmCT, at Stotts-Phelps- McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Vitus Bailey the officiating clergy. Burial in the New Hope Cemetery, 131 New Hope Church Road, Columbia, KY, with full military honors by Columbia VFW Post 6097. The family request visitation after 11amCT, on Wednesday at the funeral home.

He was born May 19, 1933 in Ella, Adair County, KY. He was the son of the late:Finis and Florence Goodin Pike. He died Sunday, September 2, 2012, in Lexington, Fayette County, KY, at the age of 79 years, 3 months, and 14 days.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Morris Pike; and four sisters, Ida Mae Stephens, Brenda Kaye Pike, Nellie States, and Evelyn Knab.

Survived by the following:
  • Three sisters: Shirley Stephens of Greenville, Tennessee; Madeline Lincoln of Roanoke, Virginia; and Dorothy Fischer of West Palm Beach, Florida

  • Several nieces and nephews

  • A special friend: Shirley McGuire of Science Hill, KY
Mr. Pike was a US Army veteran and trained thoroughbred horses across the United States.
