Canna Lilies providing beauty, great shade for chickens From the Garden at Beautiful Joppa: Canna Lilies gotten from Barbara Armitage have grown to well over five feet tall, even though they were only planted April-May period of 2012. Also: Leaves on Morning Glories change shape often Click on headline for story with photo(s) By Maury E. Lewis I had to share my Canna Lilies which I got from Barbara Armitage the last of March. They didn't get planted till around the latter part of April or first of May. I planted them on the West side of the chicken pen to shade the chickens from the afternoon sun. They have done a great job. The fence is five feet tall and they are way above the fence. I planted some more a couple of months ago and they are starting to grow also. I also planted some Morning Glories and all they have done is make great big leaves and no flowers. The leaves have changed shape three times on the Morning Glories. - Maury E.
