Memories: Exploring Dug Hill and climbing it on bicycles In the days of one-speed bicycles, Ralph Smith was the best at pulling the hill. He had the strongest legs Comments re photo 46505 Scenic Adair Co KY A pleasant primal scene above Inroad By Ken Page I remember as a kid exploring the Dug Hill and also the old Dug Hill across the way. My fellow explorers were Dwight and Maxie Hadley and Steve and Stanley Watson. It was great fun finding new way to get down the hill and walk on the swinging bridge by the Turners home. After skipping a few rocks across Crocus creek we would take the highway home: hoping a farm truck would give us a lift. The walk up the hill was not quite as exciting as the one down. Later when they paved the hill and we had bicycles, the goal was to ride up to the top of the hill without stopping. The best kid at this was Ralph Smith, he had the strongest legs of us all! Those were, of course, the days of one speed bicycles. --Ken Page This story was posted on 2012-09-01 10:54:09
